Blue : L.A. Girl Magnetic nail polish dark blue

Silver: L.A. Colors Color Craze’s Wired

Green: Naturistics Super Shine’s Leaf me alone creme (bad color choice.. more on that later)

Bracelets: same I wore last game.

Fingers all feature a unique graphic pattern.

Painted all nails with a base of silver because the green is very opaque and thin.

Index fingers: I used scotch tape to block out what I wanted green, applied two thick coats of blue.

After waiting for blue to dry, I carefully peeled away the tape, noting the thickness of the blue edge. Painted multiple coats of green, pressing brush gently against the blue border before continuing down rest of nail. Waited between coats to dry. A thick clean edge is what kept this looking nice.

L. ring & R. middle finger: kept them simple by two coats of the blue. (I wear rings on these two fingers)

IMG_1353

L. middle & R ring fingers: painted a thick green stripe with multiple coats. Used tape to block a stripe of green slightly smaller than what was painted. Painted two layers of blue, peeled back tape to reveal a messy jagged green stripe. It was ropy, bumpy, and patchy in places, Fixed by smoothing them out with fingertip and more green to balance the stripe’s color.

Pinkies: Painted them numerous coats of green. Blocked tips with scotch tape. Applied two coats, peeled off tape when blue was dry, a good amount of green stuck to the tape, I smoothed the tips out with a fingertip, decided not to even the color and texture so left it be.

Thumbs: multiple layers of green on full nail. Blocked out pattern with strips of damp paper. Used a thick coat of blue. Removed paper strips, painted tip blue on green lateral half, making sure to be careful.

The green I used was awful. It took more layers and time than I ever care to spend on nails. Took FOREVER to dry, hope it’s just the bottle. I really DO like this color. This bottle is pretty old. Strongly disappointed. This bottle will be used Only to paint the green parts of flora (stems, leaves, etc., etc…)

My nails were fully dry when I applied the scotch tape to cover up what I wanted to remain green. I pressed gently on the tape and ,the tape was there only long enough for the blue to dry. Paper is tricky: too dry, won’t stay… too wet and it leaves stuff behind.

Having my carefully thought out design not live up to my expectations because of implementing a new “time saving tool” will NOT happen again. FUCK tape and other “special tricks. I shall continue to paint freehand and touch up edges when doing graphic designs as needed. It’s more efficient that way.

So I’m thinking about branching out into book reviews….

I’ve noticed something as I prowl the internet in search of people to read and rate my book without me having to pay. While there are tons of reviewers out there, there aren’t enough! So after talking to Sara about it, we’ve decided we might be branching out into book reviews. No porn books or sloppy love stories(Read romance or erotica), they get enough spotlight. Let me know what you guys think.

Oh, and I guess I should add in a weight loss update, since I haven’t in awhile. Weighed myself this morning, that’s two days under 510 pounds. Now I’m up to 130 pounds lost in just over a year.

Ethical Author Code

Suffolk Scribblings

I'm an Ethical Author

A couple of weeks ago the Alliance of Independent Authors announced the establishment of an Ethical Author Code in response to a general concern about the behaviour of some authors, both self-published and traditionally published. Like the vast majority of authors I know, I already follow the principles behind this code but I believe there is a real value in stating this more explicitly.

I would encourage any of my author friends to also publicly commit to this code. It doesn’t cost you anything, you aren’t signing up to an organisation, it is just a public declaration to behave responsibly and ethically in all aspects of your writing career.

No Substitute for Experience and Early TBT

Silvia Writes

Yours truly, cca ’93

Here’s an early throwback-Thursday question that’s been floated around forever, another curiosity that makes us distinctly human in our ability to ponder, wonder, and pass time.

If you could, what would you tell your younger self, and why? There’s no substitute for life experience after all, so looking back at this point is easy, even if in an abstract form.

I would tell my younger self to stop fretting, to spend more time making memories, reading. To just chill. Sure, work hard, but also chill. Things work out in time, and if they don’t there’s a reason, and you’ll get your answers.

And it’s perfectly okay to poke fun at life — in fact, do more of that. Laugh your head off every change you get. Cry only if you must.

~~ What about you? What would you tell your younger self, and why?

Getting reviews is a pain in the butt….

I’ve spent the past week doing nothing but writing people asking for reviews on my books, and I think I’ve typed more words than I did for my entire series. I didn’t think you could get writers cramp on a keyboard, but I have been proven wrong. The good news is, I have managed to pick up a few reviewers! I have to say, being an army brat sure does help in being an author. It teaches you all about the hurry up and wait.

Sara’s Weekly Whatever, Seahawks returning to the Super Bowl Edition

That’s right folks, it’s that time of year again. Can you smell the championship air? GO HAWKS!

Applied two coats of Scherer Chameleon Blue Sky nail polish. Be sure nails are completely dry between applying coats with this color or else it may streak, clump, or other damage.

I looked over my green nail polishes and decided to tip nails with two coats of Maybelline Color Show holographic Mystic Green nail lacquer.

Looking at the two colors , I felt that something could be added so I painted the tip of the green silver , using L.A. Colors Color Craze Live nail polish
