Day 66 of 90: How your write is just as important as what you write. #ASMSG #IARTG #IAN1 #SupportIndieAuthors
I just completed a scene in a WIP that made me wince. I always love doing that to myself, but it’s even better when I get Sara with it too. That’s when you know you’re doing your job as a writer, when people have the desired reaction as you let them read a section.
How you write is just as important as what you write. Your words need to contain clear meaning, without going over the head of your audience. I’ve been told I have a simplistic style of writing, that my descriptions aren’t enough, and that I head hop too much. Yet when I go back to read my works, I get enjoyment from them. That’s all that matters to me in the end.
I’ve found success as a writer precisely because I define my own success. I’ve given away close to two thousand of the first book in Breath of the Titans, and I’m approaching two hundred given away of Everyone Dies At The End. Knowing I have the potential for that many readers makes me happy inside.
Over the course of two years, I’ve given everything I have to learning to be an author. I wake up, eat, sleep, and dream being an author. I’m constantly thinking of new ideas for a WIP or a scene to make my current project one step closer to completion.
I’m daydreaming about my writing even as I do the normal, mundane things I have to do in order to survive in this world. I carry my stories with me everywhere I go, and they’re constantly shaping how I view the world.
I love the power being an author gives me. I can write something, and then years later, someone can pick it up. They’ll stare at my words, and hallucinate vividly. A spell of illusion I pull over their eyes in an attempt to help them get away from whatever reality they’re trying to escape.
Though our stories are written down one at a time, you need to remember that it’s a marathon not a sprint. Even if your books aren’t appreciated right this second, it doesn’t mean someone won’t find them to be a hidden gem in the future.
Cruisin’ through books cause books make life worth living with Aly 4/13/2016 part 3
I was a little on the fence with this book. I enjoyed the characters but I was concerned because I don’t think I read too many dystopia. But I enjoyed it never the less. I think the story line had me thinking and the characters were developed very well. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review* 4/5

Aveena: The City of Gold by Destiny Hawkins
This was an exciting book. I wanted to learn more about Aveena. I’m not sure I would follow a shooting star. 🙂 But I’m glad Michael did. The book was exciting and great set up for more in the series. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review* 5/5
