WOOT! Release day for the first chapter! Looking forward to seeing people’s responses to it. So, if you’re interested, take the time to pop on over to BigWorldNetwork, and feel free to drop me a line about it. I have yet to meet an author who doesn’t LOVE to talk about their books!

#SupportIndieAuthors series, a woman I’ve introduced before!

So this week is going to be about a lady you all have already met. The other mod of the Support Indie Authors group on Goodreads(Join if you haven’t yet!). She also is the author of the Rehab for Superheroes series, that I’m looking forward to reading more of. I give you, Ann Livi Andrews.

Blurb from Hollow Towns:

Charlie nodded, but when none of them stood, he felt the pit in his stomach grow even wider. “Is there something else?”
Titus cleared his throat. “You should probably just tell him.”
“We haven’t yet decided. . .”
“Tell him or I will.” Titus’ voice was low but firm.
“We were unable to. . .extract. . .” One began.
“Safely extract.” Two corrected him.
“She’d been stuck in there for far too long,” Four explained.
“There was nothing we could do for her,” Seven shrugged apologetically.
“This had nothing to do with your actions,” Five assured.
“She knew the risks,” Three nodded.
“Please accept our condolences,” Six finished for them.
Charlie calmly stacked the folders on top of each other. Losing control in front of them wouldn’t solve anything. Besides, he’d known this was coming. And they were right. She had known the risks.

I was the girl who got in trouble for sneaking flashlights and notebooks into my room in case of late night inspirations. My teachers caught me writing down ideas instead of class notes while in school and college.

I was the out of place teenager with ink stained hands and a mind that was always a million miles away. I was and still am the girl who has a plethora of generic responses for when someone asks me what I’m thinking about. Embarking on a long winded explanation of my current character’s personal dilemmas doesn’t usually seem to be the wise response.

I still am the girl who has to write her first draft with the old fashioned pen and paper. There’s something about the feel of the pen gliding across the paper that maintains my inspiration. If I don’t have a rough draft in front of me when I sit down at the computer, I freeze up.

I’m a simple girl who grew up in the Midwest. While I love to travel, I dream of the day when my husband and I can move our new family, which includes our dashingly handsome newborn son, out to the country where we can reside in peace.

I like to think of my writing style as consisting mostly of creative nonfiction. While the setting might be apocalyptic or fantastic, there’s a piece of me and my own personal story in each work. Every character is somehow based on my own experiences as I’ve always been told to write what I know.

1. What do you do to keep your spirits up through a bad review?

My husband and I laugh about it and then I enjoy a nice glass of white wine. I may sulk over it for a day or two but then I eventually realize that I have to let it go and move on.

2. What has been your greatest inspiration for writing your story?

A friend of mine. I initially wrote Hannah for her. Despite her sudden and dramatic exit from my life, she has remained an inspiration for my book Hollow Towns.

3. Are there any people you feel need a shout out for supporting you?

Definitely my husband. He’s the reason that I began publishing in the first place. And although he has a stressful schedule of his own, he’s always willing to listen to me talk about my ideas and my Goodreads group.

4. Has self-publishing taught you any lessons that you feel will help you in life?

Perseverance, discipline, and people skills. I’ve grown in all three characteristics over the past year. And patience. . .especially as my son shut down my computer just as I was initially finishing these questions — I had to retype them.

and last, What’s your favorite color?

Purple. It began with shag carpet in my nursery and led to a young man running up to me and announcing the five little words that every woman wants to hear: “I like your purple shoes!” Four years later and that man has become the sweetest and most amazing husband and father.
