Switching To A Plant Based Diet Day 10

No, you didn’t miss any posts. I have been focusing on getting my videos up on TikTok and YouTube, and I haven’t posted them here. I think I am only going to post the videos here when I have something to add to the message of the video.

Today is a perfect example. I wanted to explain some of the vegetables I am enjoying and why I chose to eat them.

The first vegetable I’m going to talk about is the humble sweet potato. These orange tubers of deliciousness are chok full of vitamins and minerals fantastic for your health. I find them to be delicious with just the right amount of sweetness to match the other vegetables I enjoy.

I can eat these every day no problem. A cool trick I learned is to cook them the night before and leave them in the fridge. It not only enhances the sweetness (I know a subjective view), it also transforms the starch into a resistant starch, which is shown to be extremely beneficial for your gut micro biome.

That’s just one of the many benefits to eating sweet potatoes. I’m happy that I’ve included this little bomb of flavor into my diet, and so are my guts!

The Apps I Use To Edit My Audiobook

I finally finished chapter 1 of Urban Punk. Took much longer than I expected, but that’s because I was choosing images to include in the video. They were tough to come by. Pexels.com and Pixabay.com were instrumental for helping me get proper imagery. They’re not just great for book covers, but awesome for quality stock shots all for free ninety nine.

The Nikon Z 30 is my preferred camera for video content

My Nikon Z 30 is an amazing little camera. It works perfectly for the image I want to create for my videos. It also has a microphone jack for plugging in my Rode Wireless Go 2, giving me high quality sound without having to worry about cords being in the way. I can also plug the transmitter into my PC, and use microphone as a dedicated input for sound. Even if you choose not to record your audiobook as a video like I did, I still highly recommend the Rode Wireless Go 2 microphones for recording yourself.

VLLO is a great reasonably priced video editor for Android phones

Again, I am using a video editing app to edit my audio/video. VLLO is simple, easy, and intuitive to use for simple clipping and cutting of videos. Spend a little money on the app and you get access to a ton of features to help perfect your video. If you are focusing on audio, you can use a program like Lexis Audio Editor or Wavepad Audio Editor that are designed specifically for audio.

Video to Mp3 converter is great for ripping audio from your videos

Video To Mp3 Converter is another simple, easy to use application that is free. It does exactly what the name suggests and rips the audio from your videos, leaving you with a high quality sound file to upload and edit.

The last application I use is a free web app from Adobe. Adobe Podcast makes it simple to get great quality sound from my original audio. It took tinny, hollow sounding audio and made it sound rich and full, all with a couple clicks of a button. And that’s how I edited the video above, and the programs I’ll use to help me convert it to an audiobook.

Creating your own audio book (Cover Reveal for Urban Punk audio book)

I’ve been working on Urban Punk recently, to publish it and release the audio book at the same time.

I’ll admit, audio is still the most difficult part. Even if you believe you have a good audio setup, it’s probably not good enough. At least I know in my case, using the budget setup that I have, I’m not going to get perfect audio.

I don’t have a professional microphone, at least not for anything like recording a book. I have microphones that I use with my videos, but are they going to be good enough quality for an audiobook?

There’s only one way to find out, and so I’m going to start recording Urban Punk chapter 1.

I’m going to make it into a video, and I believe I’m going to try and share the whole process with you.

The process will be posted here, as pictures, because I’ll admit I’m too lazy to edit a video like that. I enjoy my cameras, I do not enjoy editing videos.

I really hope I’m able to help someone else in the same spot as I am. Or someone who’s just starting, and trying to figure it all out.

The equipment I’ll be using is a Rode Wireless Go 2, And that will be plugged into my Nikon z30. I need to get some better soundproofing, in order to make my tone sound richer and fuller, but for a basic setup this will work.

My soundproofing is not expensive. It’s simply a box with egg foam on the inside. A thicker denser one that absorbs the sound. That makes it easier to tear it up and put it down, since it’s not something I plan on leaving up all the time.

I will attempt to share how I do all my editing, even the video editing, on my phone. And hopefully, I’ll end up with a halfway decent audiobook at the end of it.

I hope you guys had a good day today, and I hope your evening is even better. Y’all have a good one!

About the Book

Title: Perennials

Author: Bryce Gibson

Genre: Mysteries & Thrillers

Summer in South Carolina – a time of ripe peaches, crackling bonfires, trips to the lake, and the rural legend of a creature known as the Lizard Man. This year, a very real monster is lurking about. The victims all have one thing in common – they share their names with plants. Soon it becomes apparent that seventeenyear-olds Dusty Miller and Nandina Bush may be next on the killer’s list.

“That was when I realized that the red I saw in the driveway wasn’t blood. It was a scattering of rose petals. Deep down, I knew, right at that very moment, that what all of us had been afraid of for the past several months had already happened. I knew that the serial killer had finally made his way to Crow County.” – Dusty Miller

Hey guys, I know it’s been a bit since I really wrote anything here. Been a really stressful, hot, and frustrating time. But that’s okay, because life is what it is. All we can do is take it one day at a time, and try to improve the next one. Anyways, I wanted to take the time today to introduce you all to an author friend of mine. She asked me to help her with her latest release of her third book, and even though I’m pressed for time right now, I love the illustrations she did. That alone makes me want to read the series, if she has half as much talent with words as she does with her art skills, then I’m surprised she isn’t already a bestseller. Anyways, I’ll let Missy and her work do the rest of the speaking. You all have awesome days! #SupportIndieAuthors!

About the Author

Missy_Sheldrake_Author

Missy Sheldrake is an author/illustrator who has been conjuring images of fairies in one form or another since she was very young. The wind in the trees and the rich scent of forest earth are her most treasured sources of inspiration, and on most mornings you will find her wandering the wooded paths, dreaming of the next adventure she hopes to put to the page.

Missy was born in Connecticut and attended Western Connecticut State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Art with a concentration in painting and illustration. Even then, in her free time, she was writing. She moved to Northern Virginia several years ago and lives there now, on the outskirts of Washington D.C., with her true love and their son. She published her first novel, Call of Kythshire, in March of 2015 and intends to keep writing as long as the fairies allow it.

The Keepers of the Wellsprings Series

I’m excited to announce that the third book in the Keepers of the Wellsprings series, Call of Brindelier, is now available on Amazon! If you haven’t read the previous books yet, read on for a super-quick crash course.

When I started writing this series, I really wanted to tell a story that was rich with fantasy, but not overly dark or mired with war and violence. I wanted to show the light side of fantasy: the cheerful, magical, uplifting side which I always drink up whenever it emerges in a story, and which always seems to be so fleeting in fantasy tales. I wanted to tell a story that would capture the hearts of young and old alike. Don’t get me wrong, my books aren’t void of conflict and evil. They tell of uncomfortable moments. There is violence and wickedness, but it’s those moments in my stories which are the fleeting ones. In the pages of my books, you will find fairies, Mages, Paladins, Elves, Dreamwalkers, Princes and Princesses, and even dragons. You’ll travel through a world rich with magic and wonder.

In Call of Kythshire, you’ll learn all about Cerion, a seaside kingdom which has celebrated peace for over a century. You’ll meet His Majesty’s Elite, a guild that is the right hand adventuring team of King Tirnon Plethore, and you’ll join Azi Hammerfel, a young squire who has grown up within the guild’s halls, through disappointments and triumphs. By her side is Rian, her childhood friend, an Apprentice of the Mage Academy. You’ll meet Flit, a fairy from Kythshire, who is as tricky as any fairy you might imagine, but has a depth of character and a sense of purpose uncommon for a typical fairy. You’ll see her world unfold, and feel the evil threat of Sorcery that looms, waiting to destroy it. You’ll learn a little about the Wellsprings, but not too much, for their existence and workings are a well-protected secret. (Click here to read an excerpt from Call of Kythshire.)

 Book 1 Cover

In Call of Sunteri, you’ll meet the strong-willed slave boy, Tib, who makes his first appearance as he escapes from the grips of Sorcery in the desert continent of Sunteri. He has help crossing the vast oceans to reach Cerion, but he doesn’t realize it at first. A mysterious being speaks to his mind, controlling his thoughts and making suggestions to ensure his own survival. In the meantime, Azi has been given the task of escorting the Prince of Cerion and his wife-with-child to the lakeside Kordelya Castle as the prince faces suspicion and ridicule after the events of Call of Kythshire. But a darker force emerges from the Dreaming, whose wicked intent is to use any means necessary to escape its prison and claim the magic of the Wellsprings for his own. In this book, you’ll see the devastating effects of the overuse of magic, and what it does to the Wellsprings and the creatures who thrive around them. (Click here to read an excerpt from Call of Sunteri.) Or buy it here!

 Book 2 Cover

In Call of Brindelier, a dark force looms, more powerful and destructive than any threat Azi and her guild have yet faced. You’ll follow Celli, a scrappy street fighter, as she is enticed into the grips of a powerful Sorcerer. You’ll watch Tib come into his own as he sneaks through the streets of Cerion, uncovering the darkness while also working on a mysterious project. You’ll follow Azi on a quest set by Princess Margary to find proof of Brindelier, a city in the clouds which is the key to all of the Wellsprings in the Known Lands. But Margy is not the only one interested in Brindelier. A dark force has been gathering, poised to claim it for their own. Control over the Wellsprings hangs in the balance. (Click here to read an excerpt from Call of Brindelier.) Or buy it here!

 Book 3 Cover

This series is appropriate for all ages, but I recommend 13 and up due to some violent themes. There is no sex, swearing, or excessively graphic violence in the Keepers of the Wellsprings. Throughout the series, you’ll encounter daring sword fights, violent magical moments, and a few quick deaths.

Call of Brindelier, the third book in the Keepers of the Wellsprings series, is now available on Amazon.  This weekend, I’m offering book one of the series, Call of Kythshire, for free, and book two, Call of Sunteri, for just 99 cents. Click here to download your ebooks while they’re on sale!
