That one star review could always be worse! #SupportIndieAuthors! #RRBC #IAN1 #ASMSG #BookBoost

One of the great things about moderating the Support Indie Authors board is all the great people I get to meet. I get lots of questions, lots of answers, and just a smattering of everything.(Even had one guy preaching to me…that was interesting.)

One of those great people went onto the board, and started a topic. This topic is something I think every author struggles with. The dreaded “One-Star” review. Me personally, I don’t understand the fear of them. It’s just another person’s opinion on your work. A subjective view on what they thought of the book. So when I send out review requests, while I’ll admit I don’t love it, I don’t fear receiving a one star review. I know what I think of the project, and that’s all that really matters to me.

Some people have a different way of dealing with it.  Humor is great at helping to get over some of the bull crap life throws at us, and trust me that one star review doesn’t really matter in the scope of things. These are just some of my favorites from a rapidly growing list. Stop on by, and feel free to contribute! #SupportIndieAuthors!

  1. Wow, some of these are amazing. I think sometimes, negative reviews especially are more about the reader/reviewer than about the author/book. Some reviewers are just plain mean and enjoy attacking rather than giving an honest or fair opinion (review “trolls” are rampant on Amazon and B&N). I would prefer reviewers be required to use their real names and not hide behind screen names. If a reviewer is going to write a public review (negative or positive), at least have the courage to stand by the statement and sign off with your real name.

    • In all honesty, I don’t think that would really change anything. Some people are just asshats. Btw, sorry it took me so long to get back to ya. Almost lost you in the spam filter! Good thing I check that thing regularly!
